The Oaklands is an Italianate mansion which was once the center of a 1500 acre plantation and the home of the Maney family. The house was built in four phases over a 40 year period. The final addition was completed in 1857, just before the Civil War. During the Civil War the Maneys were host to both Union and Confederate forces.
