Michael Sloan

Michael Sloan was the very first artist in residence in Tenneessee, though he downplays that honor a bit

“I was very thankful and felt really honored because of that. I kept that title for a period of 10 years. From the time I was three years old, my father would have to repaint the walls because I would just color on them with crayon. I don’t ever remember being punished for it”

Good thing too, because Michael grew up to be asked to paint the official symbols of the state of Tennessee.

“Well, I had to do some research…so it was an educational process for me. Then, I just tried to make it as natural and seamless as possible…”

Michael’s work is on display in many galleries, including one run by his wife.
